I’ve been at a road block for quite some time now with writing. Since I’m just now about to breakfast (at 11:51am which is lunch for others), I figured I would share some of my favorite meals. I’m hoping that my daughter will love these meals as well when she’s old enough to real food.
The meals listed below are the ones I love/loved as a child.
Let’s get started 🙂
The first on this list is meatloaf. My daddy used to/still makes the best meatloaf. I have the cookbook that he got the recipe from. I haven’t used it yet, but I will! I just won’t use beef. Instead, I’ll use turkey meat. We’ve been eating turkey meat for past 3 years, and I won’t go back to regular meat!
When I was little, I used to help my dad in the kitchen all the time! I guess that’s why I love being in the kitchen as much as I do. It’s one of my favorite rooms in a house. When my husband and I move into a new home, the kitchen has to be the best seller for me. Anyway. When my dad would tell us that we’re having meatloaf for dinner, my hands would be washed, and my bottom would be sitting on the counter because I was too short to stand. I would help him mix everything in the bowl by hand. I loved it. I plan on making meatloaf one of these days. I just need to get the ingredients together and make it, haha!
CHICKEN POT PIE
Where do I even begin with this meal? So many memories just from my dad’s good sense of humor. He would randomly call me out of my bedroom just as me to make him a chicken pot pie. I think this meal is more my dads favorite, but I believe it’s an equal tie. Since we live 45 minutes away from each other now, he’s always saying that when he makes his chicken pot pie, he’s gonna make a big batch and give us some. It’s so good!
Again, where do I begin with this one?! I absolutely love my dads beef stew. I don’t know where he got the recipe from, but it’s just delicious. Every winter, I ask him to make us some beef stew when he’s making some, just so that I’ll have some to eat the next day or that night for dinner. “Why don’t you just make your own?” I will…. when I get around to it during Winter.
Now, this one is very simple, but like all the other meals above, my dad made the best turkey burgers ever! He’ll either buy the burgers pre-made to save time, or he’ll buy turkey meat, and shape the burgers himself. Either way, they were good! I’ve made my own turkey burgers I got from Pinterest. My husband loved it, but I wasn’t too sure about them. They had yellow bell peppers in them, and I’m not the biggest fan of bell peppers. The only way I’ll eat them is in chicken fajita at my favorite Mexican restaurant. That’s a different post for a different day.
SPINACH STUFFED CHICKEN
I never ate the spinach in the Spinach Stuffed Chicken. I didn’t like the taste of it. My dad either found this recipe somewhere or he made it up, but either way we would have it. I think this meal is a close second for my dad as far as his favorite meals. I would ask him for this recipe if I wasn’t so scared to cook with chicken. Yes, you read that right. I’m scared to cook with chicken. Why? I have anxiety, so it gives me anxiety when I attempt to cook with it. I think it’s gonna either be undercooked or way overcooked. Different post, different day.
Well, that’s my Top 5 meals I love/loved as a child. I think this is gonna be a reoccurring series on my blog. I like sharing this stuff with you guys! Oh, if you’re wondering where my dad the meatloaf recipe, he got it from the Mr. Cook Cookbook. That’s the cookbook I have/stole from my dad ;P
Thanks for reading!
