My Night/Bedtime Routine!

Thank you for coming back! Today’s post is going be my night routine. I love getting ready for bed. It helps me to relax, and helps me get sleepy. So, let’s started!

bedtime routine

My night normally starts out around 6:00 PM. Typically, that’s when dinner is ready. So, after I eat dinner, I’ll tyically watch either Hulu or YouTube video. Most of the time, it’s YouTube. I’ll watch beauty/lifestyle videos, or my favorite vloggers. I will typically stay in my day clothes. I won’t change until it’s time to lay down in bed. I normally forget what the time is because YouTube has consumed my eyes, but when my alarm goes off at 9:40 PM, that’s when I know that it’s time to get ready for bed. Oh, that sentence was all over the place! Ha ha!

The first thing that I do is go into the bathroom. “Duh, Jessica! That’s normally where all night routines start!” I know, but the first that I do when I close the bathroom door is potty. My bladder is normally screaming at me to release some pressure, so I listen to it. I wash my hands after going to the bathroom, then I’ll start my skincare routine.

The first thing I use the Simple Micellar Water. I mentioned this in my morning routine, but I like using this twice a day. It makes my face feel more clean than your typical face wash. If I feel like washing my face, I’ll use the Clean & Clear Night Relaxing Deep Cleansing Face Wash. I like this because it helps relax me, and it helps in getting me sleepy.

After I do that cleanse my face, I’ll go in with my eye cream. I use the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Eye Cream. After that, I use the Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer.

After my skincare, I brush my teeth. I brush my teeth the Oral-B Pulsar electronic toothbrush, and the use Crest Pro-Health Advanced Energizing Mint Toothpaste.

I’ll go back into my room, and get dressed for bed. I’ll put on either my Messy Hair Don’t Care night gown, or a t-shirt and shorts. Most of the time, it’s the shirt and shorts. It’s more comfortable to me, and I’m all about comfort.

Usually around this time, it’s close to 9:45. I’ll crawl back into bed, and go to Netflix. I love Netflix. As I’m writing this post, I’m watching one of my all time favorite movies on Netflix. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. It’s been my favorite for 13 years! I can’t tell you which part is my favorite because I don’t have one. I love it all.  Now, characters is a different story. I think we all know who I’m going to say. Any guesses? If you said Will Turner, you are mistaken! I’ve always loved Jack. Excuse me, Captain Jack Sparrow. The ride at Walt Disney World is a must do on my list.
The movies I turn on are classic movies. They’ve entered my heart in a way I never thought they would. I started watching There’s No Business Like Show Business. For some reason last night, I wanted to watch a Marilyn Monroe movie, and that was one of the ones that came up in the search. I watch classic movies before bed because they seem to really calm me down from the day, and just relax me.

I forgot to mention earlier that when it gets dark outside, I turn my bedside lamp on. Right before I lay down from getting tired, because at this point I’m sitting up, I’ll turn the lamp off, and lay down. During this time, I’ll either pay attention to what’s going on in the movie, or I’ll go on my social media platforms of choice, and check everything I missed during the day.

Whenever I just can’t open my eyes anymore, I’ll turn off the classic movie that I’m watching/listening to, and I’ll put on a Disney Channel Original Movie (or DCOM for us 90’s kids). I’ll put on Geek Charming or Starstruck, and attempt to fall asleep.

I’ll also wait for my husband to call me to let me know he’s on his way home. I love when he does that because it just reassures me that he’s going to okay coming home. Ya’know. Worriesome wife, ha ha!

After he comes home, he’ll hop on the PlayStation4, and play a game while I hop onto his tablet, and resume whatever movie I was falling asleep to.

That’s all for my night/bedtime routine. I hope you enjoyed reading, and I’ll see you in another post! 🙂

My Shower Routine!

You’re probably thinking to yourself, “Jessica! You said that you were gonna post your shower routine yesterday! Where’s your post?!” Well, I’m here to tell you that I wasn’t feeling anything yesterday. Yesterday and I just weren’t the best of friends, so for todays post, you’ll be getting two posts instead of one. I’ll be posting my shower routine, and after that I’ll post my night routine. Let’s get started 🙂

So, the first that I do before I even step into the shower is turn on the water. Now, I like my shower to be hot, and I mean steaming hot. I’m learning to turn the water warm instead of steaming hot so that if I shave my legs, the water won’t be going cold by the time I’m shaving half of the second leg.

After I jump into the shower, I mess with the temperature, then I wet my hair. The shampoo that I’m using is the Head & Shoulders Instant Oil Control 2-in-1 Dandraff Shampoo + Conditioner. After I since that out of my hair, I use the Loreal Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm. I love this stuff. It says it repairs up to one year of damage on your hair. The first time I used this, I told myself, “I’m using this every shower!” Even though you’re probably aren’t supposed to, I do. It’s basically the only conditioner that I have in the shower! I leave it in for 3-5 minutes, like it says to on the container. At this time, I like to shave my legs.

My shave cream of choice for the time being is the Cremo Moisturizing Concentrated Shave Cream in the scent Coconut Mango. I love the scent, but not this product. On the back of the tube, it says that it prevents nicks. Now, I’ve nicked myself a bunch while using this. A lot on my knees, on the back of my leg, and just today on my inner ankle where the skin wrinkles up, or at least mine does! I just follow the instructions on the tube, and hope that I don’t nick myself again. The razor that I use the mens Schick Hydro Disposable Razors. I like using mens razors better. Gets a closer shave.

If I haven’t already rinsed the conditioner out of my hair, I’ll go ahead and wash my body. I like to use the Dove Pure Pampering Nourishing Body Wash in Coconut Milk with Jasmine Petals. You can’t really smell the coconut or jasmine in it, or at least I can’t.

After I rinse off my body, I’ll rinse out my hair, turn the water off, and get out! Sometimes I stand with towel wrapped around me for only a moment. I’ll dry off, put on the clothes I picked, and then I’ll moisturize with my favorite moisturizer ever! The Bath and Body Works A Thousand Wishes Ultra Shea Body Cream. I got the body spray, lotion, and shower gel as a gift Christmas 2014. I’ve loved it ever since!

After this, if I haven’t already done my skincare routine, I’ll do it here.

Let’s all I have for you today in regards to my shower routine. If you want to read my night routine, just read the next post!

My Morning Routine!

Welcome back to my blog! If you’re a new reader, or just now tuning, my name is Jessica, and welcome to The Dolby Wife. If you read yesterdays post, you’ll recall that I said something about a mini series. Well, I’m here to inform you all that…. it’s not actually a mini series. Now, mini series to me means that I will be posting more than three posts. Like, how on TV they have those mini series, and they air like 6 or 8 episodes and the series is kind of over? Yeah. Not me. I’m only putting three posts, and they consist of routines. If I want to continue with this routine series, I’ll post a daily routine, a cleaning routine, a get ready with me routine, basically what all those beauty gurus do on YouTube, but instead of showing my face on camera and waste memory on a memory card, I’d rather type it out, and delete anything that I don’t want in the post. Sounds kind of mean, and hypocritical since I do want to make lifestyle videos that consist of doing those things, but I’d rather get started on here first, if that made any bit of sense to you because it sure didn’t make any sense to me! If you read todays title, you’ll know that I’m posting (or posted because you’re now reading this) my morning routine while listening to an almost 2 year old cry because she just went down for her nap. Anyway, let’s get started!

morning routine

Okay, so the first thing that I do is I go on my phone and check my social media. I check on anything that I missed on Twitter, and Instagram. I’ll also check my TimeHop if it has sent me a notification telling me that I’ve done things between 2 and 5 years ago. You’re probably wondering to yourself what time I wake up. I like to attempt, repeat attempt to wake up between 8:00 AM and 8:15 AM, but let’s face it, social media can take up a good amount of that time, and plus I slide my screen on my iPhone 6, and go back to sleep. I’m not a morning person. So, after my bladder convinces me to get up out of bed, I head straight to the bathroom. Now, this post might be a little bit too TMI during this part, but I’m not the type of person that immediately brushes her teeth while doing the potty dance. I do my pottying first. I wash my hands, as you should do, and then I brush my teeth, or do my skincare, whichever I decide to do first. I brush my teeth the Oral-B Pulsar electronic toothbrush. My husband uses the same one, but we have different colors. Mine is purple, and his is white. We use the Crest Pro-Health Advanced Energizing Mint Toothpaste. I love it. This is the only toothpaste that makes my teeth and mouth feel clean. After I brush my teeth, I go right into my skin care routine. The first thing I use the Simple Micellar Water. I love this stuff. It says that it “thoroughly cleanses, removing make-up, dirt, and impurities while unclogging pores.” It does just that! When I wear make-up and use this stuff, I look down at the cotton pad, and I see the remaining make-up that my make-up wipe didn’t remove. It also gets rid of all the dirt and oil that my skin accumulated during the night while I was sleeping. The next product that I use are two eye creams. First, I use the Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On. It feels good on my eyes. Helps wake me up a little bit. Second, I use the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Eye Cream. I just follow the directions on the tube. The moisturizer that I use is the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion with SPF 15.

So, after I do all that, this is when I would normally go into the kitchen to get some breakfast. My normal breakfast consists of either donuts, butter flavored grits (because I’m from the South, and we love our grits), breakfast from our local restaurant, or lunch food because my husband and I skip breakfast sometimes, and just eat lunch, which we instantly regret.

If we go get food, I’ll check the weather outside because Florida weather is bi-polar, and can’t make up it’s mind on if it wants to be hot or cold or in between. If it’s warm out, I’ll wear shorts with a tshirt, and my Vans. If it’s cold, I’ll wear my skinny jeans, a shirt, and my Vans.

I don’t really do my make-up, but when I do, it’s not much. I’ll make a post about during this mini series I’m doing with routines.

I’m sorry that this post is all over the place, and I don’t have any pictures of the products that I use during my morning routine.

Thanks for reading, and be sure to come back tomorrow to read all about my shower routine!
