Hello! Welcome to my blog! I’m Jessica Dolby, hence the name of the blog; The Dolby Wife.
I’ve been married for almost two years to my high school sweetheart, William. We’ve been together since 2010, so we’ve been together as a couple for 6 years on February 8, and married for two years April 19.
My birthday is coming up in three weeks, and I honestly don’t know how to feel about it. I’m still in my early 20’s; the best part of a persons life. They say that while you’re in high school, you’ll find yourself, and who you want to be later in life. I didn’t have that figured out in high school, and I still don’t. The only thing that I really know is that I want to be a Nutritionist.
My reason for wanting to be a nutritionist is because of my mom. She passed in September 2014, and seeing her die made me realize that I haven’t really lived my life, and I’m not the most healthiest person, believe me. You ask mine and my husbands friends on that one! Seeing what she ate, and seeing her in that state also made me realize that I need to be healthy. I want to be healthy. I don’t want my children see me go through that. It killed me inside knowing that my mom had made up her mind on death. She had cancer. Breast. She went through it once, and she overcame it. It ended up coming back, and by the time she went to her doctor to see if it had, it was too late. They admitted her to the hospital, where she passed about 3 weeks later. I didn’t go see her as much as I wanted because I couldn’t stand to see her in that much pain. I couldn’t stand to see her die. I have real bad anxiety, and just seeing her in that state made me anxious. I had to get out of there. I couldn’t stand being there knowing that she wasn’t going to be here to meet her future grandchildren. It still kill me, and thinking about her, and writing about her is making me miss her more and more. She wasn’t the healthiest eater when she was here. She ate what she wanted, when she wanted. She didn’t care. I now care about my health. I now care about my future, and how her having cancer effects me. My grandma also passed away from cancer. So, I guess if I don’t take care of myself now, I might end up having cancer in my future. That’s why I chose the nutrition field. That’s why I want to be a nutritionist. Not only to better myself, and my husbands health, but also to help friends and family, and to help others who want to go on a healthy journey. Just remember; it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle.
I didn’t mean to go on about my reasoning for wanting to be a nutritionist. I guess when I start talking about it, I can’t stop, ha ha! It’s something that I’ve been really passionate about since my mom passed.
In this blog, you’ll see differest types of posts. Posts ranging from routines, to me spilling my heart out about the things that I’m passionate about, to my intakes and outtakes for the day, how to get on the right track to health, to all kinds of different stuff. I have a Pinterest account (who doesn’t!), and I see on my dashboard (or whatever you call it :]) tons of different posts from tons of different blogs, and I see that some of them talk about the same thing! In their words, of course.
I guess this blog will be an experiment, if you will. If I like it, and want to stick with it, you might just see a post from me on February 2, 2017! I got this idea from one of my favorite movies; Julie & Julia. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. If you like Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, this might just be the movie for you. It’s based on two different stories, but it’s amazing! Anyway, Amy Adams’ character, Julie Powell, writes a cooking blog for one whole year. She tells her readers what she is cooking for dinner out of one of her cook books, Mastering the Art of French Cooking by none other than Julia Child. She cooks 524 recipes in 365 days. Now, if Julie Powell can write a post every day for 365 days, I think I can write a post every day for 366 days! Leap Year this year, you know. Who knows, if this blog does well, I may even start up my YouTube channel! 🙂
I do believe that’s all I have for now for my introduction post. If you have any advice for a new blogger, please feel free to share it in the comments!
