The 58th Grammy Awards! Hosted by LL Cool J

This post was originally supposed to be up on Tuesday, but I’ve been busy trying to figure out my birthday plans for this weekend to even think about writing.

First and foremost, I want to apologize to any readers that I have for not post last week. To be quite honest, I’ve felt sick for the past month. Every morning when I wake up, and sometimes throughout the night, I feel nauseous. Almost to the point where I want to get up out of bed, and make myself get sick, but let’s face it. That doesn’t happen, and to clear the air, there’s no bean in my pot, bun in oven, baby in my belly. I almost feel like I’ve caught a stomach bug that just won’t go away. Enough about that, let’s get into the GRAMMYs!!!

Let’s kick things off with the very first performance. Taylor Swift opened the award show with her latest single Out of the Woods. To me, honestly, it was the most dramatic performance I’ve ever seen on an award show. Taylor and I have a love hate relationship. Some days I love her music, and other days I could care less if she retired from the music industry. I know being dramatic is something you do in the music industry when you’re putting on a performance, but she takes the cake for me. I know when artists like Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato, and Ariana Grande perform and they hit all those high notes that we all dream about hitting, (I don’t mean to brag, but I can. I sound like a small child, but hey, I can hit them) they’re dramatic, but that’s with singing. When you’re putting on a show like Taylor did, it makes you want to turn the volume down, or change the channel until she gets off screen.

The first award to be handed out was Best Rap Album. I don’t listen to rap, but I know who one of the nominees were. The nominees for BRA were:

Kendrick Lamar – To Pimp A Butterfly
J. Cole – 2014 Forest Hills Drive
Dr. Dre – Compton
Drake – If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late
Nicki Minaj – The Pinkprint

The Grammy went to Kendrick Lamar for To Pimp A Butterfly.  I was on the phone with my stepmom, but I didn’t hear who presented his award to him. I don’t listen to his music, so I didn’t have any ill feelings towards his win. I congratulate him on his Grammy win.

I missed who presented the next performance, but this performance to me was amazing. Carrie Underwood and Sam Hunt did a mash up of two of their songs. Sam Hunt sang Take Your Time, while Carrie Underwood sang Heartbreak. I haven’t listened to any of Carrie’s new music, but she always delivers on her albums.

Ariana Grande presented the third performance of the night. She presented The Weekend. He sang the first verse and chorus of Can’t Feel My Face, and sang In The Night. Both good songs. He did really good.

Tons of performances this night, and my homegirl Selena Gomez presented the fourth performance of the night. Andrea Day and Ellie Goulding also did a mash up of two of their songs. Andrea sang Rise Up, and Ellie came in and sang Love Me Like You Do. One of my favorite songs. Amazing job, ladies.

Now we get into another award. Cam and Gary Sinise, better known as Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump, presented the Grammy for Best Country Album. The nominees for this award were:

Chris Stapleton – Traveller
Sam Hunt – Montevallo
Little Big Town – Pain Killer
Ashley Monroe – The Blade
Kacey Musgraves – Pageant Material

The Grammy went to Chris Stapleton for Traveller. I never heard of Chris Stapleton until Monday nights award show. I don’t get to listen to the radio that much anymore, so I never of him, but I do congratulate him on his award.

LL Cool J and James Corden presented the fifth performance of the night. A tribute to Lionel Richie. Now, I know what you must be thinking, “LIONEL’S DEAD?!” No, no. He’s alive and well, I can assure you. Britney Spears had a tribute to her at the 2011 MTV VMAs, and she’s alive, and doing quite well, but that’s a different post for a different day. The artists that were apart of this tribute were expectant dad John Legend, Demi Lovato, Luke Bryan, Meghan Trainor, and Tyrese Gibson. John sang Easy Like Sunday Morning, Demi did a killer job singing Lionel’s most recognizable song Hello, Luke sang Penny Lover, Meghan sang You Are, and Tyrese sang Brickhouse. Now, I’m not sure if Brickhouse is Lionel’s song or not, but it’s an amazing song. I didn’t know that Lionel was going to apart of his own tribute until the camera panned on him, and I caught a glimpe of his in-ear monitor. He jumped on stage and sang All Night Long. The artists that sang in the tribute jumped in and sang the song with him. Amazing performance by all, and can I say that my boo Demi looked amazing at Monday nights show? I love her.

Six performances down thirteen more to go. Ryan Seacreast presented this next performance. Little Big Town sang Girl Crush. While I watching this performance, it instantly became a favorite. I’ve heard it on the radio, but nothing beats a live performance. Am I right, or am I right?

I didn’t catch any of the next presenter or performers. All I know is Stevie Wonder got up on stage, and sang a tribute song. He also presented the Grammy for Song of the Year. Those nominees were:

Kendrick Lamar – Alright
Taylor Swift – Blank Space
Little Big Town – Girl Crush
Wiz Khalifa feat Charlie Puth – See You Again
Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud

The Grammy went to Ed Sheeran for Thinking Out Loud, my personal favorite. The moment I heard this song, I immediately fell in love with it. Congratulations on his win!

Funny girl, Anna Kendrick, presented the next performance. Tori Kelly and James Bay performed their songs, Hollow and Let It Go. I love Tori Kelly, so anything she does is amazing, and James did an amazing job with his. This was my first time hearing his song, so he’s pretty amazing.

LL Cool J and Stephen Colbert presented the eighth performance of the night. The broadway show Hamilton performed the opening number, Alexander Hamilton. Let me tell you, I love me some broadway, and this number is another instant favorite of mine. I will warn you, there will be many more favorites coming from me.

Don Cheadle, also known as Rhodey from Iron Man 2, presented the ninth performance of the night. Kendrick Lamar performed his song Alright. Now, I will tell you, I didn’t get this performance at all. I believe it had something to do with what’s going on in the Northern part of the United States, but I just didn’t get it. I watched it, just didn’t get it. His performance had nothing to do with the song, in my opinion.

Funny man, Seth McFarlane, presented the award for Best Musical Theater Album. The nominees for this were:

Hamilton
An American In Paris
Fun Home
The King and I
Something Rotten!

The winner of this Grammy award was Hamilton. I screamed at the television when they won. Their acceptance speech was pretty much everything. They rapped their speech! Congratualtions on their win!

The tenth performance of the night was Miguel singing Michael Jackson’s She’s Out Of My Light. I missed who presented. After he sang this song, he presented the award for Best Rock Performance. The nominees for this award were:

Alabama Shakes – Don’t Wanna Fight
Florence & The Machine – What Kind Of Man
Foo Fighters – Something From Nothing
Elle King – Ex’s and Oh’s
Wolf Alice – Moaning Lisa Smile

The winner of this award was Alabama Shakes for Don’t Wanna Fight. I never heard of them until Monday night. The song sounded good. Congratulations to them for their win.

Bruno Mars presented the next performance. The Uptown Funk singer presented Adele, who sang All I Ask. If the sound from this performance sounded weird, it’s because a micophone fell on the piano strings. No one was tuning their guitar during her performance. At least that’s what I read. She did an amazing job, and it sounded like she was trying to hold back tears while singing this beautiful song.

The Big Band Theory actress Hayley Cuoco presented this next performer. Now, I don’t care for this artist because of what he’s done to one of my favorite female artists. Justin Bieber sang Love Yourself, and a rock version of his song Where Are U Now. He was looking dead at someone during Love Yourself, and I’m thinking it was Selena Gomez.

Now, I’m really upset by this next award. I don’t think they deserved it, but hey! I can’t change it. Stay With Me singer Sam Smith presented the Best New Artist award. The nominees were:

Courtney Barnett
James Bay
Sam Hunt
Tori Kelly
Meghan Trainor

The Grammy went to Meghan Trainor. Now, I’m furious by this award. Some of you are probably wondering, “Why? She’s amazing!” Yeah, she has one rememberal song for me, but I believe Tori Kelly should’ve won. She has stated over and over again that she’s been in and out of the music industry for 10 years! She was with one record label that I forget the name of, and now she’s with Capitol Records. Tori got robbed, in my opinion.

Song of the Year winner, Ed Sheeran, presented the next performance. Mama Monster herself, Lady Gaga, did a tribute to the late David Bowie. She did an amazing job, and I think everyone watching Monday night was thinking to themselves, “I WANT HER PIANO!” Absolutely amazing.

I didn’t catch the presenter of this next performer. Chris Stapleton did a tribute, I do believe. I didn’t catch who he was doing a tribute to, but he did a good job.

Best Rock Performance winner Alabama Shakes performed their song Don’t Wanna Fight. The lead singer looked beautiful in her white gown. They were presented by LL Cool J.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl presented this next band. I thought they did a pretty good job for two rock stars and an actor. He presented The Hollywood Vampires, who consists of rock stars Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, and Pirates of the Caribbean actor, Johnny Depp. The sang their song Bad As I Am. Femoninal job.

This next performer did a piano arrangement. I didn’t catch who presented. The piano player was Joey Alexander. A 12 year old kid. Amazing.

Single Ladies singer Beyonce presented Record Of The Year. The nominees were:

The Weekend – Can’t Feel My Face
Taylor Swift – Blank Space
Mark Ronson feat Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk
Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
D’Angelo & The Vanguard – Really Loud

I’m proud to say that Uptown Funk won this award. I love this song, and I’m glad that it won. Congratulations to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars!

Earth, Wind, and Fire presented Album of the Year. The nominees for this award were:

The Weekend – Beauty Behind The Madness
Kendrick Lamar – To Pimp A Butterfly
Alabama Shakes – Sound & Color
Chris Stapleton – Traveller
Taylor Swift – 1989

The winner of Album of the Year had the fakest reaction to me, and that was Taylor Swift. I know there’s drama between her and Kanye West, but she didn’t have to address it so subtly for the world to see! She might’ve been giving advice, but she was taking a jab at Kanye for HIS mistake.

I didn’t catch the last performance of the night, but Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull, sang his song Taxi with the help of the Blurred Lines singer, Robin Thicke.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Please no negative comments! These statements are clearly my own. Everyone has opinions, so please, keep your negative opinions to yourself. 🙂

Rainy Day & 10 Things That Make Me Happy! :)

As I’m sitting here having a Twilight marathon (Team Edward, Jasper, and Switzerland, by the way), I decided to write, for some reason I don’t know.

Today in Florida is a gloomy, rainy day. I’m not sure what else to write other than 10 things that make me happy.

10 things

Here are 10 Things That Make Me Happy

  1. Spending time with my husband
I know that sounds cliche, but I really do like spending time with my husband. Since he’s working the afternoon shift at his work, I like to spend as much time with his as possible before he as to leave for work.
  2. Spending time with family
Whether it’s my family, or my husbands family, I love spending time with them. I babysit my 19 month old niece when my mother in law has to work. She watches her unless she needs me to.
  3. Disney movies
I’ve loved Disney movies since I was about 2 years old. My favorite Princess is Ariel. Favorite Prince is Eric. Let’s just say that my favorite Disney movie is The Little Mermaid. I’ve loved it since I was little. How old? I have no clue.
  4. Walt Disney World
I probably should’ve included this one in #3, but I really do love WDW. The thought of being there makes me happy. I could listen to park music all day and not get tired of it. My husband and I went on our honeymoon (or Disneymoon for all of us Disney addicts), and we went in December to see the Osbourn Family Spectacle of Dance Lights. It was amazing. Although we turned in early to due migraines, we still had a fantastic time. My stepmom wants to go for her birthday in September to attend the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot, which I’m totally in if she still wants to!
  5. Pinterest
This one might be a little weird, but I really love Pinterest. When I’m having a bad day or if I wake up on the wrong side of the bed, I always go on Pinterest. I pin almost everything. I have tons of boards, and even more pins! I’m unstoppable.
  6. Putting on makeup
All my life, I’ve heard time and time again that I’m pretty, or beautiful, or gorgeous, but every time I look in the mirror, I don’t see it. I went to school with tons of pretty girls, and they always got the attention, but I ever did, so I guess that’s why I’m insecure about how I look. When I put on makeup, I get told, “You’re pretty without all that makeup,” or “Why do you wear that much makeup?” Putting makeup on makes me happy.
  7. Dressing up
When I dress up, and get girly, I’m happy. I get to feel like a whole different person when I dress up. I get to wear dresses, and skirts, and nice shirts. I get to wear heels, which I don’t do very often.
  8. The Twilight Saga
Okay. I couldn’t resist putting this one in here, but Twilight really does make me happy. I love the story, I love the character development, I love everything about Twilight… except Jacob. He’s too controling and clingy for me. Anytime I watch these movies, it’s always in marathon style, as mentioned above, ha ha.
  9. Pirates of the Caribbean
I love this franchise, as well. Mainly because of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, but I love it! When The Curse of the Black Pearl was in theaters, I saw it not once, not twice, but three times. Yes, you read that correctly. Three times! Every day after school, I would go on the official website for the movie, and watch clips of the movie before it came out on DVD. Talk about obsessed!
  10. Being productive
I like being productive. I like the idea of productivity. I was so productive yesterday, I didn’t know what to do with myself when I was finished. I was productive today, as well. Did about three loads of laundry, made the bed this morning, fixed my husband his lunch/dinner for work. I feel on top of the world when I’m productive.

Those were the 10 Things That Make Me Happy. I hope you enjoyed this post! Any advice you could give to a newbie blogger, I will take it in the comments below! 🙂

How I’m Productive!

When I woke up this morning, I didn’t think I would be doing anything productive. My husband and I went to lunch with one of this friends, then we went to the store to get a couple things, husband went to work shortly after getting home from the store, and I started straightening up our room! So, I’ve been pretty busy for the past three and a half hours! I don’t know what made me get into the productive mood, but I am! I’m in the middle of doing some laundry right now, so that should be done before I lay down to sleep tonight.

If you want to find out how I’m productive, then just keep on reading!PRODUCTIVE MOOD

  1. Water.
I don’t know what it is about water that makes me so productive. I took a couple of sips, and boom! Tons of productive energy I didn’t know I had for today.
  2. Vitamins.
I try to take my vitamins every day, but sometimes it just slips the mind. I took them today, and I guess that’s part of my reason for having energy. I take the One A Day Women’s Petite Multivitamin because I’m a small person. 5’1″ to be exact. Plus, I can’t take those big pills they give you. Yuck. No sir’s and no ma’am’s!
  3. FOOD!
Food. The biggest thing we need for energy. My husband and I ate Mexican food with our friend for lunch today, and I must say it was pretty good. As a snack, I’m about to munch on some pizza rolls! Must. Have. Energy. To. Finish. Clothes. That was supposed to said in a zombie voice…. didn’t really work out, haha.
  4. No electronics.
This one is big for me. I always have the tv on, the Playstation 4 on, my eyes glued to my phone, tablet off… Wait. Tablet part defeats the purpose. Sure it’s way quiet, but I kind of like the quiet when trying to get stuff done. I get it done faster.
  5. Goals.
I try and set goals for myself. I used to write them down every night before I went to sleep, but I don’t write them anymore, and I don’t have a clue why. My goal for today is to try and make my husband happy. Laundry, keeping our room clean… Stuff like that. I feel resentment coming from him when I don’t do these things.

I guess that’s all I have for today’s post, but don’t you worry! There will plenty more coming!
